Today is my son born

He must be had good time with them!

I love him.

This project was shot in cooperation with Trendiano and ElleMen magazine.  The concept was developed by Jess and I and is based on Trendiano's brand idea of each person having multiple identities.   Despite the limited budget and schedule, we wanted to maximize the opportunity and give it a cinematic feel.  We took a risk by shooting on the 3rd party Magic Lantern Raw firmware on the 5D MarkIII but in the end it was worth it as it gave us a really crisp, flexible image and also allowed us to shoot undisturbed in restricted area.  All in all, a terrific experience.

I'm a Chinese-American filmmaker born in Shanghai, China but raised in the suburbs of New Jersey.  As a child, my mother used to take me to the West Orange Public Library where she would study and I would wander the stacks, reading whatever I wanted.  It was then that I first discovered storytelling as a way to connect with others and to express myself.

Film making came to me in college, at NYU.  I had entered NYU thinking myself a pretty knowledgeable cinephile, having watched at least a thousand films.  But I was quick to discover that I was surrounded by people who literally lived and breathed film.  What's more, they were doing something that I had never considered; they were making  films.  I sat in on their classes and I helped out on their shoots and soon I was hooked.  I wanted to try it out for myself.

I graduated early from NYU and I started by film making life.  I spent some time at NYFA and in the USC film production program before moving to China.  I now live in Shanghai directing and shooting mostly commercial content for the web and TV.

I've been blessed to have worked with some of China's best.  The film community here is young but has great hope and ambition.  Like them, I hope to continue to grow as a filmmaker so that in the future I can tell stories that connect and inspire others.
